Indore: Two days after 16 people lost their lives in a tragic road accident in Dhar, the police arrested the driver of the pickup vehicle on Friday. He has been charged under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
The driver, identified as Radheshyam Damore, a resident of Jalokhiya, has been sent to judicial custody. Investigations into the overloading and technical failure of the vehicle are still ongoing.
The accident occurred around 8:30 pm on Wednesday near a petrol pump at Chikaliya Phata. Thirteen individuals sustained critical injuries in the incident.
According to reports, the pickup vehicle's tyre burst suddenly, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle then mounted the divider, flipped multiple times, and crossed into the opposite lane, where it collided head-on with an SUV. The impact was so severe that several passengers died on the spot. Sources revealed that the vehicle's insurance had already expired.
This tragic event has once again raised concerns about road safety and vehicle maintenance in the region. Authorities are continuing their probe to determine all contributing factors leading to the accident.
