Kozhikode: A significant incident occurred in the early hours of Friday when a portion of the ceiling above the waiting area at the KSRTC bus terminal in Kozhikode collapsed, resulting in minor injuries to two passengers.
The incident took place around 2am, and a major catastrophe was narrowly avoided as the number of people present at that time was minimal. The gypsum ceiling, which had been installed beneath the concrete roof, gave way while passengers were seated in the waiting area.
The injured individuals have been identified as Madhu (58), a resident of Kayamkulam in Alappuzha, and Ajith (24), from Mananthavady in Wayanad. Both sustained minor head injuries and received prompt medical attention.
Official Response
Local MLA K Jayanth visited the terminal shortly after the incident and held discussions with KSRTC officials to assess the situation and ensure necessary measures are taken to prevent future occurrences.
