Bengaluru Fire: 50 Women Jump to Safety, Avert Tragedy

A major tragedy was narrowly averted in Bengaluru's Nandini Layout on Sunday night when approximately 50 young women escaped a raging fire by jumping from their building to safety. The fire broke out in an LED banner godown and quickly spread to adjacent structures, including a four-storey building housing a ladies' paying guest (PG) accommodation.

Chaos and Quick Thinking

Within minutes, smoke engulfed the entire PG, trapping the residents and causing panic. With the exit blocked and no time to wait, the women made a desperate decision: they climbed over the compound wall and jumped from the building to escape the flames. Eyewitnesses described scenes of chaos as the women screamed for help and leapt one after another. Remarkably, all of them survived, with only minor injuries reported during the jumps.

Aftermath and Investigation

Authorities praised the quick thinking and courage of the residents, stating that hesitation could have led to a catastrophic outcome. The fire also damaged a couple of parked vehicles before fire and emergency services doused the flames. Windows of adjacent buildings shattered in the incident. The Nandini Layout police have registered a case and are investigating the cause of the fire.
