Assam Rifles Seize 4 Lakh Yaba Tablets Worth Rs 47 Crore

In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Assam Rifles, in coordination with Manipur Police, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the India Reserve Battalion (IRB), seized approximately 4 lakh Yaba tablets valued at around Rs 47 crore in Manipur’s Jiribam district on Thursday evening. One individual was arrested in connection with the seizure.

Operation Details

Security forces launched the operation at Leingangpokpi on Thursday following specific intelligence inputs regarding the movement of narcotics in the district. During the operation, the team intercepted a vehicle and recovered 4,00,000 Yaba tablets concealed inside it. The driver, a resident of Bihar, was apprehended on the spot. The vehicle involved in the smuggling attempt has also been seized by the authorities.

Investigation Underway

Officials have stated that further investigation is currently underway to trace the source and destination of the consignment, as well as to identify other members of the trafficking network. The Assam Rifles has emphasized its active role in conducting anti-drug operations alongside Jiribam police and other security agencies operating in the district, with the goal of disrupting and dismantling narcotics syndicates in the region.
