The Panchkula police issued 403 challans for illegal parking during a special campaign conducted from June 15 to 21. The drive targeted vehicles parked on roadsides, which frequently lead to traffic congestion.
Campaign Details and Actions
The traffic police launched the week-long operation to address the growing problem of unauthorized parking on main roads and busy market areas. Alongside issuing fines, authorities placed "no parking" signs at key and sensitive locations across the city to raise awareness.
An official stated that illegal parking on main roads and in crowded markets often creates serious traffic bottlenecks. "This not only increases the risk of road accidents but also causes significant traffic problems for ordinary citizens," the official said.
Advisory and Future Enforcement
The traffic police issued a formal advisory urging drivers to park only in designated spaces. Parking on roads, intersections, and other public areas is a direct violation of traffic rules. The official warned that strict action would continue, including on-the-spot fines for negligent parking.
