Ministers Inspect Memorial Projects in Sivaganga District
Ministers K R Periyakaruppan and M P Saminathan conducted a review of two significant memorial projects in Sivaganga district on Saturday. Their visit focused on honoring freedom fighters and Tamil scholars through these initiatives.
Auditorium Construction at Siravayal Village
The ministers first inspected the construction of an auditorium in Siravayal village, located in Tirupathur taluk. This project carries an estimated cost of three crore rupees. It commemorates a historic meeting between Mahatma Gandhi and freedom fighter Jeevanandam during India's struggle for independence.
Chief Minister M K Stalin laid the foundation stone for this auditorium on January 22, 2024. The inspection followed the Manjuvirattu event held at Siravayal, highlighting the cultural significance of the location.
Statue Installation for Tamil Poet Mudiyarasan
Later, the ministers reviewed the installation of a statue dedicated to noted Tamil poet Mudiyarasan. This project is situated in Kazhanivasal under the Karaikudi Municipal Corporation. The Department of Tamil Development is erecting the statue at a cost of fifty lakh rupees.
Officials provided detailed briefings on the current progress and pending works for both projects. They outlined the steps remaining to complete these memorials.

During the inspection, Minister M P Saminathan emphasized the State government's dedication to honoring freedom fighters and Tamil scholars. He noted their significant contributions to language, culture, and the freedom movement.
