Youth Congress leader murder: Family seeks CBI probe

The family of slain Youth Congress leader Fairoz Pathan has demanded that the Karnataka state government transfer the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), citing serious lapses in the police probe. Addressing the media in Dharwad, Parvez Pathan, the brother of the deceased, expressed deep dissatisfaction with the progress of the case and accused the police of negligence.

Police Inaction Alleged

Parvez Pathan alleged that despite two months having passed since the murder, the police have not treated the case with the required seriousness. The prime accused, Congress leader Ismail Tamatgar, remains at large and is suspected to have fled the country to evade arrest. "The police have merely issued notices as a formality and are not making sincere efforts to apprehend him," Parvez claimed. He further alleged that powerful individuals are influencing the investigation, leading to a lack of action.

Concerns Over Evidence Tampering

Parvez also raised concerns about the treatment of Mainuddin, one of the arrested accused, who is currently hospitalized. He alleged that Mainuddin has been using a mobile phone and other facilities, which could lead to the destruction of evidence. "The police are not taking any action despite our complaints," he said.

Bail Petitions and Security Fears

Ismail Tamatgar and other arrested accused have filed bail petitions, and the family has appealed to the court not to grant them bail. Parvez also expressed fear for the safety of his family, stating that his mother and sister are living under constant threat. "The police department should provide protection to our family," he appealed.

Clarification on Anjuman-e-Islam

Referring to recent statements by office-bearers of Anjuman-e-Islam, Parvez clarified that the family has never accused the institution. "Representatives of the institution stated during a press conference that Anjuman-e-Islam should not be dragged into the case. We have never accused the institution. However, some of them have claimed that Ismail Tamatgar had no role in the murder. There are audio recordings of conversations between Fairoz and Tamatgar over the phone," he said.

The family continues to demand justice and a fair investigation, urging the government to intervene and ensure the CBI takes over the case.
