Woman dies after being run over by water tanker in Pune

A 63-year-old woman died after she was run over by a water tanker in Alandi on Thursday evening. The deceased has been identified as Annapurna Rokade, a resident of Vikaswadi in Khed taluka, according to the Alandi police.

Accident Details

The incident occurred around 6pm when Rokade was riding pillion with her son on his motorcycle. They were heading towards the vegetable market. Upon reaching Ganapati temple chowk near Haripath Garden, Rokade's son lost his balance, causing Rokade to fall off the motorcycle. At that moment, a water tanker approaching from the opposite direction ran over her, resulting in her death on the spot.

Police Response

An officer from the Alandi police stated that they reached the scene immediately and sent the body for post-mortem. A case of accidental death has been registered, and investigations are ongoing. The police have not yet made any arrests, as the incident is being treated as an accident.
