UP Police Association Celebrates Women's Achievements on International Women's Day
In a heartfelt tribute to the spirit of International Women's Day, the UP Police Family Welfare Association, known as Vaama Saarthi, organized a special ceremony to honor women and girls from the families of non-gazetted personnel of the Uttar Pradesh Police. These individuals have distinguished themselves across a wide array of fields, showcasing remarkable talent and dedication.
Recognition of Inspiring Achievements
President of the association, Meenakshi Singh, spearheaded the initiative to acknowledge the inspiring accomplishments of women who have excelled in diverse areas. The categories for recognition included entrepreneurship, sports, science, literature, social service, digital media, and public service. This effort underscores the association's commitment to empowering women within the police community.
The response to the call for nominations was overwhelming, with a total of 530 nominations received across various categories. Following a meticulous and detailed evaluation process, 14 exceptional women and girls were selected for felicitation, highlighting their outstanding contributions and successes.
Ceremony Aligned with Women's Day Theme
During the ceremony, Meenakshi Singh presented certificates of merit to the awardees, expressing immense pride for the entire UP Police family. She emphasized that the recognition of these women on International Women's Day is not just a celebration of personal milestones but also serves as a powerful inspiration for society at large.
She further explained that the felicitation ceremony was thoughtfully aligned with the theme of International Women's Day 2026, which is "Give To Gain." This theme emphasizes the belief that investing in women through knowledge, opportunities, support, and dignity ultimately leads to a stronger and more resilient society.
Notable Awardees and Their Accomplishments
The awardees represented a diverse group of achievers from various districts of Uttar Pradesh. Among them were:
- Swati Rozha from Shamli, recognized as a motorcycle vlogger and digital creator.
- Khushboo Singh from Maharajganj, honored for her entrepreneurial ventures.
- Bhavana Chaudhary, an inspector in the air wing of the Border Security Force (BSF).
- Sisters Apurva and Apurvi from Bulandshahr, celebrated for their initiative to revive interest in Sanskrit through the social media campaign 'Ek Kadam Sanskrit Ki Ore'.
- Shreya Singh from Agra, acknowledged for her achievements in karate.
- Neha Singh from Gorakhpur, recognized for her work in visual arts and writing.
- Nighat, honored for her contributions to food preservation science and social awareness programs.
Other distinguished awardees included scientist Padmini Mishra, educationist Sadhana, medical officer Dr. Nirima Gautam, and writer Akanksha Prajapati. Additionally, two inspiring women, Hemlata Yadav and Deepti Yadav, were felicitated for their noble act of organ donation, highlighting their selfless service to humanity.

The event was well-attended by several members of Vaama Saarthi, including vice-president Brijrani Swarnkar, who showed their support and appreciation for the awardees.
