Tractor Driver Killed by Own Vehicle While Washing It

A tragic accident occurred in Pilibhit district on Sunday, where a 28-year-old tractor driver was killed after being run over by his own vehicle while washing it in a river stream. The vehicle continued moving unattended following the incident.

Details of the Incident

Rajesh Kumar, a resident of Mudia Bilhara village under Bilsanda police station limits, worked at a brick kiln in Dilabarpur village. According to police, he had taken the tractor to the Katna River near Kamghat bridge to clean it when the vehicle's rear wheel became stuck in the sand, causing it to tilt sharply.

Kumar lost his balance and fell from the tractor, which was still in gear with the ignition on. The vehicle then ran over him and continued moving, driverless, through the shallow stream.

Viral Videos and Recovery

Locals recorded videos of the unmanned tractor, which were later widely circulated on social media. Police, along with villagers, recovered Kumar's body and used an earth-moving machine to pull the tractor out of the river. Doctors at a nearby government hospital declared him dead on arrival.

Deuria Kotwali police station SHO Gautam Singh said, "He had gone to his brother-in-law's house on Saturday using the tractor owned by the brick kiln. The incident took place while he was returning to work."

Post-Mortem and Investigation

The body was sent for autopsy. "No written complaint has been received in connection with the incident so far," SHO Singh added. Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
