Operation Launched Based on Intelligence Input
The operation commenced on Tuesday night in the Arhama area of Ganderbal district following specific intelligence input regarding suspicious movement. According to reports from news agency PTI, a cordon and search operation was initiated by security forces to address the potential threat.
The Srinagar-based Chinar Corps stated in a post on X: "Based on specific intelligence input, a joint search operation was launched by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the general area of Arhama in Ganderbal."
Encounter Unfolds Amid Vigilant Monitoring
During the operation, vigilant troops detected suspicious activity, prompting immediate action. The Army reported that upon being challenged, the terrorists opened fire, leading to retaliation by the security forces.
The Army elaborated: "On being challenged, terrorists opened fire and own troops retaliated."
Amid intermittent firing, the cordon was tactically reorganized, and troops responded in a calibrated manner, ultimately resulting in the elimination of one terrorist.
