Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Offers Prayers at Vijayawada Temple
In a significant spiritual visit, Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka traveled to Vijayawada on Friday to offer prayers at the revered Sri Durga Malleswara Swamy Varla Devsthanam (SDMSD) temple, located atop the Indrakeeldari hill. Grand Welcome and Traditional Rituals
Upon his arrival, Bhatti Vikramarka was warmly welcomed by temple assistant commissioner Rangarao and a group of temple priests, who accorded him a grand reception in line with traditional customs. The deputy chief minister proceeded to the sanctum sanctorum, where he had darshan of the presiding deity, Goddess Kanaka Durga Devi. He performed special pujas as per the temple's age-old traditions, seeking divine blessings in a solemn ceremony.
Following the darshan, Vedic scholars offered Vedic blessings to Bhatti Vikramarka at the Ashirvachana mandapam, a sacred platform dedicated to such rituals. This part of the visit highlighted the deep-rooted Vedic practices associated with the temple, emphasizing its spiritual significance in the region.

On this auspicious occasion, the temple authorities presented Bhatti Vikramarka with several sacred items, including the goddess's prasadam, sacred vastram (cloth), and a portrait of the deity. These gifts symbolize the temple's blessings and are traditionally given to honor distinguished visitors.
Speaking to the media after the rituals, Bhatti Vikramarka expressed his heartfelt prayers for the wellbeing, peace, and prosperity of the people in both Telugu states—Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. He emphasized seeking the divine blessings of Goddess Kanaka Durga Devi for everyone, reflecting his commitment to public welfare and inter-state harmony. Senior Congress leader Gidugu Rudra Raju and other dignitaries were present during the visit, adding to the event's political and social relevance.
