Swati Maliwal Attacks Kejriwal Over ‘Sheesh Mahal’ After Joining BJP

Fresh political tensions have erupted after Swati Maliwal joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and openly criticised Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal. A day after her switch, Maliwal accused Kejriwal of indulging in “gundagardi” and abandoning the ideals he once stood for. Citing the ‘Sheesh Mahal’ controversy, she alleged that massive public funds were used to construct a lavish residence.

At the same time, she praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, calling it visionary and decisive. Maliwal said her decision to join the BJP was voluntary and rooted in her belief in Modi’s governance model. Her remarks have intensified the ongoing political confrontation between the BJP and AAP.

Allegations of Misuse of Public Funds

Swati Maliwal, a former Delhi Commission for Women chief, launched a scathing attack on Arvind Kejriwal over the alleged misuse of public funds for the construction of a palatial residence, popularly referred to as the ‘Sheesh Mahal’. She claimed that Kejriwal had abandoned the principles of honesty and transparency that the AAP was founded on.

Praise for PM Modi

In contrast, Maliwal praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, describing it as visionary and decisive. She stated that her decision to join the BJP was voluntary and driven by her belief in Modi’s governance model, which she said prioritises national development and integrity.

The political shift has added fuel to the already heated rivalry between the BJP and AAP, with both parties expected to engage in further exchanges in the coming days.
