Suvendu Alleges TMC Threat to BJP Worker, Seeks EC Action

Leader of Opposition in West Bengal, Suvendu Adhikari, has alleged that a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) worker was threatened by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in Kolkata. He has called upon the Election Commission of India (EC) to intervene and take strict action against the perpetrators.

Incident Details

According to Adhikari, the incident occurred in the Tollygunge area of Kolkata, where a BJP worker was allegedly intimidated by TMC supporters. The worker, whose identity has not been disclosed, reportedly received threats to his life and property if he continued his political activities for the BJP.

Adhikari stated that such incidents reflect the deteriorating law and order situation in the state under the TMC government. He emphasized that the EC must ensure a level playing field for all parties, especially during the ongoing election season.

Adhikari's Appeal to EC

In a formal complaint submitted to the EC, Adhikari demanded a thorough investigation into the matter and requested security for the affected worker. He also urged the commission to deploy central forces in sensitive areas to prevent further intimidation.

“The TMC is using fear and violence to suppress the opposition. We demand immediate action from the Election Commission to protect our workers and uphold democratic values,” Adhikari said in a statement.

The BJP has consistently accused the ruling TMC of engaging in political violence and intimidation ahead of the elections. The EC has yet to respond to the latest allegations.
