Senthilbalaji Slams TVK Over Power Cuts, Urges Fixes

Senthilbalaji’s Sharp Jab at TVK Government: ‘Fix Power Cuts, Not PR’

In a stinging criticism of the Tamilaka Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) government, senior DMK leader and former minister Senthilbalaji on Friday accused the ruling party of neglecting basic infrastructure issues, particularly the persistent power cuts plaguing the state. “Fix power cuts, not PR,” he said, taking a swipe at the government’s media management efforts.

Speaking to reporters in Chennai, Senthilbalaji alleged that the TVK, which came to power on a promise of change, has delivered “disappointment” instead. He pointed out that citizens across Tamil Nadu are facing unscheduled power outages daily, affecting households, businesses, and agriculture. “The government spends more time on publicity and spin than on solving real problems. People are suffering, and all we see are press releases,” he added.

The former minister’s remarks come amid growing public frustration over electricity supply disruptions in several districts. Opposition parties have been demanding an urgent review of the power distribution system and accountability from the energy department. Senthilbalaji also questioned the government’s allocation of funds, suggesting that money meant for infrastructure is being diverted to image-building campaigns.

TVK spokespersons have not yet responded to the allegations, but sources indicate that the government is working on a long-term solution to stabilize the grid. However, Senthilbalaji dismissed such claims, stating, “Promises were made during elections. Now, action is needed, not excuses.”

The DMK leader’s comments have reignited political debate in Tamil Nadu, with the opposition expected to raise the issue in the upcoming assembly session. As the state grapples with a heatwave and increased power demand, the spotlight remains on the TVK government’s ability to deliver on its core commitments.
