Selja Slams Government Over Fuel Crisis and LPG Shortage in Haryana
Amid escalating global tensions between Iran and the United States, which are driving up crude oil prices and fuel costs, AICC general secretary Kumari Selja has launched a sharp critique against the Centre and Haryana government. On Thursday, she asserted that their policies are exacerbating the economic burden on common people due to a failure to curb black marketing and streamline supply chains.
Impact of Global Tensions on Domestic Economy
The Sirsa MP highlighted that the higher price of fuel is directly affecting ordinary citizens as well as small businesses across the region. She emphasized that the government must adopt a balanced and forward-looking foreign policy while simultaneously ensuring effective domestic management to control inflation and provide much-needed relief to the public.
Selja pointed out that the disruption in global oil markets, fueled by conflicts such as the Israel-Iran war and incidents in the Middle East, has local repercussions. She referenced broader geopolitical issues, including the death of an Indian in Abu Dhabi from missile debris and the killing of Iran navy commander Alireza Tangsiri, to underscore how international events are straining domestic resources.
Urgent Call to Restore Commercial LPG Supply
Selja raised serious concerns about the shortage of cooking gas in Haryana, mirroring problems seen in other parts of the country. Despite rising prices, she accused the government of failing to curb black marketing and streamline the supply of essential commodities.
The disruption in the supply of commercial LPG cylinders has severely impacted various sectors, including hotels, restaurants, dhabas, catering services, and other gas-based businesses. Selja urged the central government to take concrete steps to control inflation and ensure the availability of these critical resources.
Government Inaction and Public Suffering
Further, Selja called on the Haryana government to immediately restore the supply of commercial LPG cylinders and streamline the distribution system. She described how families planning weddings and social functions are being forced to run from pillar to post to obtain gas cylinders, labeling this situation as "highly unfortunate."
Her statements come at a time when geopolitical choke points like the Bab al-Mandeb strait are emerging as potential flashpoints, adding to global economic pressures. Selja's critique underscores a growing frustration with governmental inaction in the face of these challenges.
- Failure to curb black marketing in fuel and LPG sectors.
- Disruption in commercial LPG supply affecting small businesses.
- Public hardship due to inflated prices and scarce resources.
- Call for balanced foreign policy and domestic management reforms.
