Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut has made a sensational claim amid growing speculation of a rebellion within his party. Speaking to the media, Raut alleged that Members of Parliament are being offered a Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs 50 crore each.
Raut's Statement on MSP for MPs
In a sharp attack on the political establishment, Raut said, “You know today about the importance of the Supreme Court, Election Commission and Speaker.” He further asserted that the figure of Rs 50 crore per MP has been fixed as MSP, hinting at a systematic effort to lure legislators.
The remark comes at a time when the Shiv Sena (UBT) faction led by Uddhav Thackeray is facing internal turmoil, with several MLAs and MPs reportedly in touch with the ruling alliance. Raut's statement appears to be a veiled warning to those considering switching sides.
Political Implications
Raut's comments have triggered a political storm in Maharashtra. The ruling coalition, led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, has dismissed the allegations as baseless. However, the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader's claims have raised questions about the integrity of the political process.
Political analysts believe that Raut's outburst reflects the growing nervousness within the Thackeray camp. The party, which suffered a split last year, is now facing the prospect of further erosion of its support base.
Meanwhile, the Election Commission and other constitutional bodies have not responded to Raut's allegations. The Shiv Sena (UBT) has demanded a probe into the matter.
