Defence Minister Rajnath Singh made a powerful statement on Thursday during the Army Day celebrations in Jaipur. He declared that the Indian Army is actively marching toward becoming the most empowered military force in the world by the year 2047.
Vision for a Powerful Future
Speaking at the 'Shaurya Sandhya' event, which marked the conclusion of the 78th Army Day festivities at SMS Stadium, Singh outlined this ambitious goal. He emphasized that this transformation is happening under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The minister stressed that citizens must keep this 2047 roadmap firmly in mind as the nation progresses.
More Than Just a Military Force
Rajnath Singh described the Indian Army not merely as a military entity but as a crucial pillar for nation-building. He highlighted the current global context, noting that established notions are breaking down and uncertainty prevails worldwide. In such times, he argued, strengthening the army becomes paramount for any country's existence.
The defence minister called for a modernized, self-reliant, and robust military. He also emphasized the need to bolster interservice linkages, pointing out that warfare dynamics are evolving rapidly. "Nothing is unexpected now," Singh remarked, underscoring the army's role as India's primary strength.
Reflecting on Operation Sindoor
During his address, Singh specifically mentioned Operation Sindoor, characterizing it as a "balanced military response." He stated that this operation would be remembered as a symbol of India's courage, strength, restraint, and national character.
He praised the bravery and swiftness of the Indian armed forces, suggesting that terrorists could never have anticipated such decisive action. According to Singh, the soldiers' valor successfully thwarted enemy mischief during a difficult and high-pressure situation.
Restraint and Continued Efforts
The minister commended the unprecedented restraint, unity, and patience displayed by Indian soldiers during the operation. He clarified that Operation Sindoor is not entirely over yet. India's peace efforts will continue relentlessly until the complete eradication of terrorist ideology, he affirmed.

Rajnath Singh pointed to the use of indigenous weapons during Operation Sindoor as a significant milestone. He stated that self-reliance is not just a matter of pride but an absolute necessity for the nation. Celebrations and Launches
The Shaurya Sandhya event featured impressive displays of martial arts and traditional sports, including Kalaripayattu and Mallakhamb. A notable highlight was a static performance by a 30-member Nepalese Army Band, adding to the ceremonial grandeur.
During the celebrations, the 100th Naman centre in Suratgarh, located in Sriganganagar district, was virtually launched. Additionally, Rajnath Singh unveiled the 'First Day Cover' commemorating the 78th Army Day Parade, marking the occasion with philatelic recognition.
