Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday delivered a significant address in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, where he proclaimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) recent triumph in the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation election represents a pivotal moment in Kerala's political history. During his rally, PM Modi reflected on the BJP's historical journey, recalling how in 1987, the party initiated its political ascent in Gujarat by securing the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation for the first time. He emphasized that this breakthrough in Ahmedabad fundamentally altered Gujarat's political trajectory, leading to the BJP's sustained dominance in the state for over two decades.
"Since then, based on BJP's performance, the people of Gujarat have elected us for more than two decades. I am confident that BJP's victory in Thiruvananthapuram Corporation marks a similar turning point," Modi stated, underscoring his optimism for a parallel transformation in Kerala.
Historic Win in Thiruvananthapuram
PM Modi's visit closely follows the BJP's landmark achievement in the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation election last month, where the party secured 50 out of 101 seats. This victory not only granted the BJP a majority but also resulted in the election of its first Mayor for the civic body, a milestone in the party's presence in Kerala.
This development gains added significance as Assembly Elections are scheduled in Kerala for April this year, positioning the BJP's municipal win as a potential precursor to broader electoral successes.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched various developmental projects and inaugurated new train services in Kerala. He highlighted that a growing awareness among the populace regarding the Central government's efforts for the state's development is emerging.
In a move to enhance regional connectivity, PM Modi flagged off three Amrit Bharat Express trains and a Thrissur-Guruvayur passenger train. These new services are expected to significantly improve rail links between Kerala and neighboring states, including Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, and Andhra Pradesh, fostering economic and social integration.
