PM Modi Lauds Maharashtra's Role in India's Growth

Mumbai: Maharashtra has always stood at the forefront of India's economic transformation, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a letter to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on the occasion of its statehood.

From industry to innovation, finance to manufacturing, commerce to creativity, Maharashtra's contribution to India's rise is unmatched. It remains the preferred destination for investors, thus becoming a leader in infrastructure creation, stated the PM in his letter.

He further stated the vision of Viksit Maharashtra aligns wonderfully with realising our shared dream of a Viksit Bharat by 2047. The fact that the Maharashtra government has also thoughtfully structured in three phases: 2029, 2035 and 2047 reflects both immediate action and long-term national purpose.

He also pointed to the central government's support for Maharashtra, having allocated Rs 24,000 crore for key railway projects in 2025-26. For a state like Maharashtra, next-generation infrastructure and creativity are of great importance. Just last year, the Aqua Line of the Metro was expanded. The entire nation is talking about the Navi Mumbai airport and how it will boost growth especially around Mumbai. The Vadhavan Port will become a major maritime gateway strengthening India's trade ambitions. The Shaktipeeth Mahamarg carries with it both development and cultural significance. The Bidkin Industrial area in Sambhajinagar and several others will generate lakhs of jobs and make India self-reliant, he said.
