A 35-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by his wife and her lover in Himachal Pradesh's Solan district, with the body dumped in bushes, police said on Tuesday.
Incident Details
The incident took place in the Sadar police station area of Solan. The victim, identified as Rajesh Kumar, a resident of village Dharampur, was killed on Monday night. According to police, the wife, Rekha Devi (32), and her lover, Sanjay Kumar (28), planned the murder.
Rekha Devi allegedly called Rajesh to a secluded spot near the bushes, where Sanjay attacked him with a knife. After stabbing him multiple times, they dumped the body in the bushes and fled. The murder came to light when a passerby spotted the body and informed the police.
Police Action
Superintendent of Police Solan, Gaurav Singh, said, "We received a call about a body in the bushes. Upon investigation, we found stab wounds and identified the victim. We arrested the wife and her lover within hours based on evidence and interrogation."
Police recovered the murder weapon, a knife, from the accused. Both were produced before a local court and sent to police custody for further investigation. The motive appears to be an extramarital affair, as the wife and her lover had been in a relationship for several months.
Community Impact
The murder has shocked the local community. Villagers expressed outrage, demanding strict action. "We never expected such a brutal act in our peaceful village. The couple had marital issues, but this is beyond imagination," said a neighbor, Ramesh Sharma.
Police have registered a case under sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence) of the Indian Penal Code. Further investigations are ongoing to ascertain if anyone else was involved.
