PM Modi Pays Tribute to Pahalgam Terror Attack Victims on First Anniversary
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday solemnly commemorated the first anniversary of the devastating Pahalgam terror attack, delivering a powerful message of national unity and unwavering resolve against terrorism. In a heartfelt post on social media platform X, the Prime Minister honored the memory of those who lost their lives in the horrific incident.
"Remembering the innocent lives lost in the gruesome Pahalgam terror attack on this day last year," PM Modi wrote. "They will never be forgotten. My thoughts are also with the bereaved families as they cope with this loss."
The Prime Minister emphasized the collective strength of the nation in facing such tragedies, stating, "As a nation, we stand united in grief and resolve. India will never bow to any form of terror. The heinous designs of terrorists will never succeed."
Indian Army Echoes Firm Stance with Operation Details
Echoing the Prime Minister's sentiments, the Indian Army marked the anniversary with a resolute warning against anti-India activities. In its own social media post, the military declared, "For acts against #India, the response is assured. Justice will be served. Always."
The Army shared detailed information about Operation Mahadev, revealing the extensive efforts undertaken to bring the perpetrators to justice. According to the military's account, forces scanned 300 square kilometers of treacherous terrain over 93 days and nights of relentless search operations, ultimately leading to the neutralization of three perpetrators directly involved in the attack.
The Army further noted that Operation Sindoor continues as part of ongoing counter-terrorism efforts.
Recalling the Attack and India's Comprehensive Response
The April 22, 2025 attack in Jammu and Kashmir's picturesque Pahalgam region resulted in the tragic deaths of 26 civilians. The assault was particularly brutal as terrorists segregated victims based on religion before executing them in front of their family members, sparking nationwide outrage and condemnation.
India responded decisively with Operation Sindoor on May 7, 2025, targeting terror infrastructure across the border. This military action successfully destroyed nine major terror launchpads linked to notorious organizations including Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen, eliminating over 100 terrorists in the process.
Pakistan's subsequent retaliation led to a brief four-day conflict before a ceasefire was established on May 10, 2025, following Islamabad's request for de-escalation.
In the aftermath of these events, Indian armed forces launched Operation Mahadev, specifically focused on tracking down and eliminating the three attackers directly responsible for the Pahalgam massacre, demonstrating the nation's commitment to bringing justice to victims of terrorism.
