Parents of Jehanabad Medical Aspirant Join Beti Bachao-Nyaya Yatra Demanding Justice
In a poignant display of solidarity, the parents of a medical aspirant from Jehanabad were among the key participants in the Beti Bachao-Nyaya Yatra organized by the All India Progressive Women’s Association (AIPWA) and other wings of the CPI(ML) on Wednesday. The yatra aims to seek justice in the alleged sexual assault and tragic death of the student, highlighting growing concerns over women's safety and legal accountability in Bihar.
Yatra Commences from Jehanabad with Strong Support
The yatra, led by AIPWA general secretary Meena Tiwari, began from a village in Jehanabad, with the parents of the medical aspirant present at the starting point to see off the participants. Their involvement underscores the personal and emotional stakes in this movement, as they join hands with activists to demand swift action from authorities.
Former CPI(ML) MLAs Mahanand Singh and Rambali Singh from the district also participated, lending political weight to the cause. This collective effort reflects a broader push for justice and systemic change in handling such sensitive cases.
Route and Planned Culmination at Bihar Assembly
After starting from Jehanabad, the yatra made a night halt at Hilsa in Nalanda district. It is scheduled to pass through several districts, including:
- Nalanda
- Nawada
- Gaya
- Aurangabad
- Arwal
before reaching Patna on February 10. Upon arrival in the state capital, participants plan to march to the Bihar assembly, demanding concrete action from the government in this case. This strategic move aims to pressure policymakers into addressing the grievances and ensuring justice is served.
Broader Implications for Women's Rights in Bihar
The Beti Bachao-Nyaya Yatra not only focuses on this specific incident but also raises larger issues about women's safety, legal recourse, and government responsiveness in Bihar. By mobilizing communities and political figures, it seeks to foster a more accountable and protective environment for women across the state.
As the yatra progresses, it is expected to gather more support and attention, potentially influencing public discourse and policy decisions. The involvement of the parents adds a deeply human element, reminding all stakeholders of the urgent need for justice and reform.
