Mamata Banerjee's Dance and Fiery Speech at Election Rally
In a vibrant display of political campaigning, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee captivated a crowd at an election rally in Tentulia by breaking into a traditional dance. The event, held at Tentulia High School in North 24 Parganas, saw enthusiastic cheers and applause from supporters as the Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader showcased her cultural flair.
Strong Words Against the BJP
Addressing the gathering, Banerjee delivered a sharp warning to voters, stating, "Even a snake can be trusted, but not BJP." She positioned herself as the guardian of the state's safety, urging attendees to support her party. "I am the candidate for TMC. Vote for TMC if you want to keep the state safe," she emphasized, reinforcing her campaign message.
Allegations of Electoral Malpractices
Banerjee made serious accusations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming it lacked confidence in winning with local votes. "BJP brought people from outside to vote in Assam as it was not confident of victory with votes of the state's residents," she alleged, highlighting concerns over electoral integrity in neighboring states.
Further escalating her critique, the Chief Minister asserted that names of 90 lakh people had been removed from electoral rolls through the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process. "Names of 90 lakh people have been removed (through SIR). All agencies of the country are one-sided. BJP has brought them all," she claimed, suggesting a biased approach by national agencies.
Election Context and Stakes
West Bengal is set to vote in two phases on April 23 and April 29, with counting scheduled for May 4. The TMC is striving to retain power against a resurgent BJP, which has made significant inroads in the state since the 2021 elections. This rally underscores the intense political battle unfolding in the region.
Banerjee's performance and statements reflect her strategy to connect with voters through cultural appeal while addressing key electoral issues. The event has drawn attention to the high-stakes contest, with both parties vying for dominance in the upcoming polls.
