Mamata Banerjee Alleges BJP Interference in West Bengal Election Campaign
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has made serious accusations against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), claiming deliberate obstruction of her election campaign activities. In a recent statement, she highlighted multiple issues including flight delays, administrative bias, and the denial of permissions for political meetings, which she attributes to political influence aimed at disrupting All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) programmes ahead of the polls.
Allegations of Administrative Misuse and Political Targeting
Banerjee asserted that officials are acting under political pressure to hinder her party's efforts. She further alleged misuse of administrative machinery to target AITC workers, urging voters to remain vigilant during the polling and counting processes. Specifically, she called for caution over Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) handling to ensure electoral integrity.
Criticism of Central Government Policies
In addition to campaign-related complaints, Banerjee criticized the Centre on several fronts. She addressed employment promises, reservation policies, delimitation, and citizenship issues, accusing the BJP of polarizing communities and raising concerns about the National Register of Citizens (NRC) in West Bengal. These remarks come amid heightened political tensions as the state prepares for upcoming elections.
The allegations underscore the intense rivalry between the AITC and BJP in West Bengal, with Banerjee positioning herself as a defender against what she describes as unfair tactics. As the poll date approaches, these claims are likely to fuel further debate and scrutiny over electoral conduct in the region.
