Kejriwal Condemns BJP's Neglect of Basic Services in Ponda at Election Rally
Aam Aadmi Party national convener Arvind Kejriwal launched a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party government during an election rally in Ponda, Goa, on Wednesday. He accused the ruling administration of failing to provide even the most fundamental amenities to the local residents, highlighting severe deficiencies in infrastructure and public health.
Basic Pre-Election Measures Ignored in Temple Town
Kejriwal pointed out that governments typically undertake essential improvements before elections, such as repairing roads, cleaning drains, and enhancing electricity and water supply. "However, in Ponda, even these basic measures were completely neglected," he asserted. The AAP leader emphasized that this oversight reflects a broader pattern of administrative failure under the BJP's governance.
Water Woes and Garbage Crisis Exposed
In a particularly stark allegation, Kejriwal claimed that residents of Panditwada in Ponda are forced to consume water infested with worms. He directly challenged Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to drink a glass of this contaminated water, underscoring the severity of the issue. Kejriwal promised that if AAP comes to power, clean drinking water would be guaranteed for all.
Additionally, he accused the BJP of transforming the revered temple town into a garbage dump. "I observed garbage piled along both sides of the roads," Kejriwal stated. He noted that pilgrims and tourists from across India visit Ponda's temples, only to be greeted by unsightly waste, which tarnishes the town's image and poses health risks.
Electricity Bills and Political Accountability
On the economic front, Kejriwal announced a bold pledge: zero electricity bills for residents if AAP assumes office. This promise aims to alleviate financial burdens and contrast with what he described as the BJP's ineffective governance.
Kejriwal also addressed the sensitive Curchorem sex scandal case, alleging that the BJP attempted to shield the accused. He criticized BJP state president Damodar Naik for sympathizing with the accused's father, arguing that this reflects misplaced priorities and a lack of justice for victims.
Call for Rejecting Traditional Parties
In his concluding remarks, Kejriwal urged the people of Ponda to reject both the BJP and the Congress in the upcoming elections. "Choose honest, work-driven politics for real change," he appealed, positioning AAP as a viable alternative focused on transparency and public welfare. The rally underscored AAP's campaign strategy of highlighting local issues and offering concrete solutions to resonate with voters in Goa.
