Prayagraj: Kaushambi police on Tuesday arrested three persons, including a woman and her two nephews, in connection with the murder of a woman identified as Manglavati Devi of Manjhanpur. Her body was found lying near the Paschim Sarira-Bairampur road on May 15.
Arrests and Investigation
The cops managed to ascertain the identity of the woman on Monday with the help of CCTV footage and electronic surveillance, which sped up investigations. The arrested persons, identified as Anoopa alias Amrita Devi and her nephews, Abhinandan alias Vhibhanshu and Avnish Rai, are residents of Shantipuram, Prayagraj.
Police have also recovered two mobile phones, a car, and the purse and mobile of the slain woman from the accused.
Details of the Crime
Police revealed that the slain woman knew the prime accused, Amrita, for the past two years. Manglavati had called Amrita on May 14 on the pretext of visiting Chitrakoot. During their journey, they argued over refueling the car. The trio allegedly strangled the woman to death and escaped.
