Expert Analysis

Mohammad Danish, senior scientist at the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), explained, "The combination of strong solar radiation and moisture in the air increased heat and humidity, making temperatures feel several degrees higher than the actual reading. Such conditions will continue for the next few days." He added, "After a brief respite from intense heat, temperatures have begun rising again across Uttar Pradesh. Several districts are likely to experience hot and dry weather over the next few days, with isolated areas expected to witness loo-like conditions."

Prayagraj: Hottest City in the Country

As intense heat gripped eastern Uttar Pradesh, Prayagraj emerged as the hottest city in the country on Tuesday, recording a maximum temperature of around 44 degrees Celsius, nearly 5.1 degrees above normal. Varanasi ranked as the second hottest city nationwide, with the mercury hovering around 43 degrees Celsius, about 4.9 degrees above the seasonal average. The sharp rise in temperatures reflected the return of severe heatwave conditions across the region.

No Respite Expected

Met officials stated that there will be no respite from the hot conditions in the next four to five days. However, occasional thunderstorms accompanied by light showers or scattered rainfall may occur in isolated areas.
