The Gujarat government announced on Tuesday that over the last 10 years, it has disbursed relief assistance worth Rs 22,733 crore to 1.4 crore farmers. In the past year alone, Rs 10,337 crore was directly deposited into the bank accounts of 36.7 lakh farmers as compensation for crop damage, the state government stated.
Challenges Due to Weather
According to the government, farmers in Gujarat have faced significant challenges due to unpredictable weather patterns over the past decade, including unseasonal rain, excessive rainfall, and cyclones. The state administration has adopted a compassionate approach, providing financial support to farmers who suffered crop losses.
