DC Reviews Preparations for Martyrdom Day of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev

In a significant administrative move, Deputy Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh conducted a thorough review of the ongoing preparations at Khatkar Kalan in Nawanshahr for the upcoming martyrdom day of Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev, scheduled to be observed on March 23. This annual event draws a large number of visitors from across the country and abroad, who gather to pay homage to the revered freedom fighters.

Inspection of Key Sites and Arrangements

During his visit, the Deputy Commissioner, accompanied by senior officials, inspected various key sites to ensure they are well-maintained and ready for the commemorative event. He issued specific directions to enhance cleanliness and upkeep at locations of historical importance, including the ancestral home of Bhagat Singh and the museum dedicated to his memory. These sites are expected to witness a substantial influx of visitors, as people come to honor the legacy of the martyrs.

Special attention is being given to the cleaning and maintenance of several significant landmarks:

  • The statue of Bhagat Singh, a central attraction for devotees.
  • The memorial of his father, Kishan Singh, which holds sentimental value.
  • The rally ground located behind the museum, a venue for gatherings and tributes.
  • Mata Vidyawati Park and other areas associated with the freedom fighter and his family.

Focus on Infrastructure and Visitor Management

To facilitate a smooth and comfortable experience for attendees, the administration has also reviewed arrangements related to traffic management and infrastructure. This includes assessing the condition of approach roads to the village and the adjoining green belt, ensuring they are in optimal condition to handle the expected surge in vehicular and pedestrian movement. The goal is to prevent congestion and provide easy access for all visitors.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Balbir Raj Singh emphasized that all necessary preparations will be completed well in advance, taking into account the deep respect and devotion that people hold for the martyrs. The administration is committed to organizing a well-coordinated event that honors the sacrifices of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev while ensuring a seamless experience for those paying their respects.

The martyrdom day serves as a poignant reminder of the bravery and sacrifice of these iconic figures in India's struggle for independence, and the administration's efforts aim to uphold their legacy with dignity and reverence.
