BJP MP Rekha Sharma Accuses Bhajan Lal of Misconduct

Hisar: Haryana's political landscape has been roiled after BJP Rajya Sabha MP Rekha Sharma, speaking at an event in Panchkula, accused former chief minister late Chaudhary Bhajan Lal and his son Chander Mohan of 'electoral misconduct'.

Even as the controversy snowballs, Kuldeep Bishnoi and his family have maintained silence, while their supporters have reacted sharply, demanding a public apology and action against the MP. Former MLA Bhavya Bishnoi, grandson of Bhajan Lal, attended several programmes in the Adampur constituency on Saturday but chose not to comment on the issue.

In contrast, members of the Bishnoi community, along with Bishnoi supporters, including BJP MLA from Nalwa Randhir Panihar, termed Sharma's remarks a 'deliberate conspiracy' and called for strict action. Panihar, considered close to the Bhajan Lal family, said the remarks were not confined to Bhajan Lal but also targeted former chief minister Bansi Lal and Chander Mohan, making them 'highly condemnable'. He added that the comments had hurt sentiments on a large scale and that he would take up the matter with the chief minister, the state BJP president and the party's central leadership.

Bishnoi Sabha district president Jagdish Chandra Kadwasra and former district president Subhash Bishnoi also criticised the statement, demanding Sharma's expulsion from the party. 'This does not appear to be a slip of the tongue, but a well-planned remark,' they said.

Advocate Mandeep Bishnoi, a member of the special committee of the All India Bishnoi Mahasabha and associated with the JJP, launched a sharp attack on the BJP, alleging that its leaders were 'intoxicated with power' and increasingly crossing limits in public discourse. He said Sharma's remarks had hurt not only the Bishnoi community but people across sections of society.
