Bilaspur DC Leads Door-to-Door Census Survey

Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar surprised residents of Bilaspur town on Wednesday by personally knocking on doors to conduct a Census survey. The first phase of Census-2027 began in the town, and the DC interacted with families while observing the enumeration process. He emphasized the importance of providing accurate and factual information for effective welfare and development programs.

Census Phase and Methodology

The house listing and housing enumeration under the first phase of Census-2027 started on June 16 and will continue until July 15. Nearly 897 enumerators and supervisors are visiting households to collect data using a prescribed format. The census is being conducted entirely in digital format through the HLO mobile app, as stated by the DC.

Importance of Accurate Data

Rahul Kumar described the census as a vital national programme that serves as the foundation for government schemes, infrastructure facilities, and development policies. He stressed that providing correct information is every citizen's responsibility, as the data forms the basis for future development plans. He appealed to the public to cooperate fully with census personnel and answer all questions accurately.

A helpline number 1855 has been set up for any information or assistance regarding the census, the DC added.

Resident Reaction

Tilak Raj Thakur, a resident of Bilaspur, expressed surprise that the DC himself visited his house with the census team and assisted in the enumeration work. This personal involvement highlighted the importance of the census at the grassroots level.
