Akhilesh Yadav Launches Scathing Attack on BJP Over Economic Woes
In a sharp critique, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) reputation is plummeting, drawing a parallel with the Indian rupee's recent decline to a record low of 95 per dollar. He accused the ruling party of engaging in a 'race to the bottom' with the currency, highlighting widespread economic distress.
Corruption and Policy Failures Under Fire
Akhilesh Yadav, in an official statement, emphasized that the BJP's image suffers each time corruption scandals involving its leaders emerge. 'BJP's image and the rupee are fiercely battling in a race to the bottom,' he declared. He pointed out that despite exposures of misconduct, resignations of implicated individuals are rare, labeling this as 'moral bankruptcy' at its peak.
The former Uttar Pradesh chief minister blamed faulty policies at both state and central levels for pushing the economy into crisis. 'As a result, the value of rupee is falling by the day. Inflation is on the rise,' he noted, citing long queues for LPG refills as evidence of public hardship. He criticized the government for lacking alternate energy arrangements amid the deepening US-Iran conflict, accusing it of misleading citizens.
Foreign Policy and Global Stance Criticized
Attacking the Modi administration, Akhilesh Yadav argued that India's foreign policy is being unduly influenced by other nations. 'India is the world's largest democracy but in the global crisis arising out of the ongoing war, it has remained as a mute spectator,' he stated. He warned that the devastating war impacts not only the economy but also the common man, exacerbating domestic struggles.
Predictions for West Bengal Elections
Shifting focus to West Bengal, Akhilesh Yadav referenced the mass transfer of 173 police officers and 83 Block Development Officers in a single day, interpreting it as a sign of BJP's deteriorating position. He predicted that Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, affectionately called 'Didi', will orchestrate BJP's rout from the state.
'BJP is losing badly in West Bengal. It is being witnessed for the first time that the BJP is making arrangements to make its defeat respectable,' he remarked. He dismissed the transfers as electoral manipulation rather than administrative reshuffling, asserting that the assembly election results will be unfavorable for the BJP.
This comprehensive critique underscores Akhilesh Yadav's allegations of economic mismanagement and political decline, positioning the BJP as struggling on multiple fronts.
