AAP Slams Centre Over Fuel Price Hikes, Blames Modi Govt

Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government over the continuous increase in fuel prices, asserting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's administration has pushed the country into an unprecedented inflation crisis through its failed foreign and domestic policies.

AAP Leaders Accuse Centre of Weakening Economic Sovereignty

Senior AAP leaders claimed that the central government has undermined India's economic sovereignty and placed an immense burden on ordinary citizens by persistently raising the prices of petrol, diesel, and other essential commodities. They argued that these hikes are a direct result of poor policymaking at both the domestic and international levels.

Aman Arora Highlights Policy Failures

AAP Punjab president Aman Arora stated that the soaring prices of petrol and diesel are a direct consequence of the Modi government's failure in policymaking. He said, "Despite making tall claims of transforming India into a 'Vishwaguru', the Modi government has failed to secure the country's energy future. Over the last decade, fuel consumption has increased massively, but instead of strengthening domestic production and energy security, the Centre has increased India's dependence on imports. This is nothing but a total collapse of the central government's domestic and international policies."

Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal Warns of Agricultural Impact

AAP Punjab chief spokesperson and Ajnala MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal accused the Modi government of handing over India's economic control to US President Donald Trump through trade and oil agreements. He recalled that AAP had already warned about a sharp rise in fuel prices after India distanced itself from cheaper Russian oil under pressure from the United States. "Diesel prices have again increased by nearly one rupee. Earlier, CNG, petrol, and diesel prices were hiked. In the coming days, prices will rise even further, leading to massive inflation across the country," said Dhaliwal.

He emphasized that the fuel price hike would directly impact the agricultural sector ahead of the paddy sowing season beginning June 1. "As diesel becomes costlier, farmers' expenses will skyrocket. Transport costs will rise, food items will become expensive, and vegetables, pulses, clothes, and every essential commodity will become unaffordable for ordinary people," added the Ajnala legislator.

Malvinder Singh Kang Criticizes Political Opportunism

AAP MP Malvinder Singh Kang also criticized the BJP government, stating that ordinary citizens are paying the price for the Centre's failed foreign policy and political opportunism. "The BJP government suppressed fuel price hikes during elections for political gains, but now the truth is coming out. The common man is suffering because of the Centre's disastrous policies. Inflation and unemployment are already at historic highs, and now increasing fuel prices will further crush the poor and middle class," he said.

The AAP leaders collectively urged the central government to take immediate steps to control fuel prices and alleviate the burden on citizens, warning that continued inaction would lead to further economic distress across the nation.
