In a shocking crime that has rattled the community, the Yamunanagar police have successfully cracked a brutal murder case, leading to the arrest of a young woman and her alleged lover. The duo stands accused of conspiring to kill the woman's own mother-in-law in a premeditated attack.

From Suspicious Death to Murder Investigation

The case first came to light on July 19, 2025, when an elderly woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances in Hargarh village, falling under the jurisdiction of the Chhappar police station. Initially treated as a case of a suspicious death, the investigation took a serious turn when the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA)-I unit of the Yamunanagar police took over the probe.

Through meticulous investigation, the police team unearthed crucial evidence that pointed not to a natural or accidental death, but to a cold-blooded murder. Based on these findings, a formal murder case was registered at the Chhappar police station on January 6.

Arrests and Chilling Confession

The breakthrough came on January 9, when the police team apprehended the prime accused, identified as Rajesh Kumar, a resident of Mamli Kala village. During intensive interrogation, Rajesh reportedly confessed to his involvement in the crime.

His confession revealed a sinister plot. Rajesh stated that he committed the murder in connivance with his lover, Shivani, who also hails from his village. The police disclosed that Shivani was married to Jitender, a resident of Hargarh village, and the deceased elderly woman was her mother-in-law.

Acting swiftly on Rajesh's disclosure, the police arrested Shivani based on his identification. The arrests mark a significant step in solving this heinous crime that involved familial betrayal.

Legal Proceedings and Ongoing Probe

DSP Radaur Ashish Chaudhary provided details on the legal steps taken. Both accused were produced before a local court, which granted the police two days of custody for further investigation.

During this remand period, the police will focus on a thorough investigation into all aspects of the case. A key objective is to recover the weapons or tools believed to have been used in the commission of the murder. The police are committed to building a watertight case to ensure justice is served.

The case has sent shockwaves through the villages of Hargarh and Mamli Kala, highlighting a tragic instance of alleged conspiracy within a family. The Yamunanagar police's detailed investigation has brought the culprits to book, offering a measure of solace in the pursuit of justice.
