A tragic hit-and-run accident claimed the life of a young contract worker in Faridabad early Sunday morning. The victim, identified as 20-year-old Mohit from Chandpur village, was riding to work when the incident occurred.
Fatal Morning Commute
Mohit left his home around 7:15 am as usual. He worked as a helper and was heading to his duty. While passing through the Karauli and Badrola Chowk area in Tigaon, an unidentified heavy vehicle struck him.
Impact and Immediate Aftermath
The collision threw Mohit onto the road with tremendous force. He sustained critical injuries from the impact. The driver of the vehicle did not stop to help. Instead, the driver fled the scene immediately after the accident.
Dense fog covered the area at that time. Visibility was extremely poor according to eyewitness accounts. Mohit's elder brother, Amit Kumar, confirmed this detail to the police. He stated the fog significantly reduced visibility on that stretch of road.
Police Response and Investigation
Passersby noticed Mohit lying injured on the road. They quickly alerted the local authorities. A police team rushed to the spot upon receiving the information.
The officers found the young man in critical condition. They immediately shifted him to a nearby private hospital for emergency treatment. Unfortunately, doctors at the hospital declared him dead upon arrival.
Legal Action Initiated
Tigaon police station registered a case against the unknown vehicle driver. The charges include sections 281 for rash driving and 106 for death by negligence. Police are actively investigating the matter.
Investigators are currently scanning CCTV footage from the area. They hope to identify the vehicle and trace the driver responsible for this fatal accident. The footage may provide crucial clues about the vehicle's registration number or route.
Family's Grief and Final Rites
Mohit was the youngest among his siblings. He remained unmarried at the time of his death. His family described him as a regular worker who left home every morning for his job.
After completing the necessary medical procedures, authorities conducted an autopsy. The body was then handed over to Mohit's grieving family for final rites. The family now mourns the sudden loss of their youngest member.
This incident highlights the dangers of driving during poor weather conditions. It also underscores the need for greater road safety measures in the area. Local residents have expressed concern about similar accidents occurring during foggy mornings.
