A tragic hit-and-run incident in southwest Delhi claimed the life of a woman and left a man seriously injured on Wednesday morning. The accident, involving a speeding sedan, has once again highlighted the dangers of reckless driving on the city's roads.
Details of the Fatal Collision
The incident occurred around 6:15 am on December 27 near the DTC bus stand in Nawada village, located on the busy Najafgarh Road in the Uttam Nagar area. According to the First Information Report (FIR) filed by the police, the two victims were standing by the roadside, waiting for a bus, when the tragedy struck.
A white sedan car, allegedly coming from the direction of Dwarka Mor, was moving at a high speed and in a zigzag manner. The out-of-control vehicle slammed into the unsuspecting pedestrians. The impact was severe, throwing both individuals onto the road.
Victims and Driver's Callous Escape
The woman was identified as Mamta, aged 50. She sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, she was declared dead by doctors during treatment. The injured man, 57-year-old Manmeet Singh, is currently undergoing medical care for his wounds.
In a display of shocking negligence, the driver of the sedan reportedly briefly stopped the car after the collision. However, instead of helping the victims or reporting the accident, the driver looked at Mamta and Manmeet Singh lying injured on the road and chose to flee the scene. Police are investigating the case and searching for the absconding driver.

Local authorities have registered a case and are examining evidence, including CCTV footage from the vicinity, to trace the vehicle and identify the driver responsible for this fatal hit-and-run.
