A 21-year-old woman lost her life after being struck by a bullet during celebratory firing at a family function in Sidhi district on Monday night, according to police reports. The incident occurred in Mawai village under the jurisdiction of the Churhat police station area.

The family had organized a gathering to celebrate the arrival of a newborn at their home. During the festivities, some individuals allegedly began firing weapons into the air—a dangerous practice commonly observed during celebrations despite repeated warnings from authorities.
According to police statements, a bullet discharged during the celebration struck the woman, identified as Ritika Singh, in the abdominal region. The impact left her critically injured and created immediate panic among those present at the gathering.
Emergency Response and Investigation
Family members and local residents quickly transported the injured woman to a medical facility in Rewa for urgent treatment. Tragically, doctors at the facility declared her brought dead upon arrival.
"After the incident, they rushed the injured to Rewa for treatment, where doctors declared her brought dead," stated Churhat police station in-charge Deepak Singh Baghel. "We are yet to receive the case diary from Rewa. However, prima facie, our findings reveal that it is a case of accidental firing."
Police officials indicated that the woman had traveled from Rewa district to visit her elder sister in the village when the tragic incident occurred. The youth responsible for the firing has been identified as Rishi Singh.
