Woman Fatally Attacked with LPG Cylinder by Husband in Delhi Home

In a shocking incident of domestic violence, a 32-year-old woman was brutally bludgeoned to death with a small LPG cylinder, allegedly by her husband, inside their flat in southeast Delhi's Pul Prahladpur on Sunday night. The horrific attack unfolded in front of their one-and-a-half-year-old daughter, leaving the community in distress.

Police Response and Arrest

Residents of the DDA Janta flats were alerted by piercing screams and promptly contacted the police. Her husband, Suresh Kumar, was immediately taken into custody for further investigation.

Victim and Suspect Background

Suresh Kumar works as a manager at a multinational company in southeast Delhi, specializing in cargo and shipments.

Investigation Details

According to preliminary police findings, the murder was triggered by a heated argument over financial support for Suresh's brother. Authorities stated that Suresh allegedly attacked Poonam, repeatedly striking her with the LPG cylinder, which resulted in fatal injuries. The couple had been married since 2020 and had experienced ongoing marital discord throughout their relationship.

Police records indicate that they lived together for the initial two to three years of their marriage before Poonam returned to Churu in Rajasthan to stay with her parents and in-laws. She had only come back to Pul Prahladpur approximately two months ago and was residing there with her husband and daughter at the time of the incident.

Legal Proceedings

Law enforcement has registered a case under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Investigators are currently awaiting Poonam's post-mortem report to gather further evidence and proceed with the legal process. This tragic case highlights severe issues of domestic violence and familial conflict in urban settings.
