A 21-year-old woman is fighting for her life after a terrifying fall from the fourth-floor balcony of a hotel in Bengaluru's AECS Layout. The incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, December 16, 2025, when she attempted a desperate escape through a drain pipe upon the arrival of police responding to a noise complaint.
The Frightening Sequence of Events
According to the HAL police, the victim, identified as Vaishnavi, a recent BBA graduate who had just begun working at a private firm, was celebrating a birthday with friends. The group had booked three rooms at the Sea Esta hotel. The celebration took a turn around 5 am when loud music from their rooms prompted another hotel guest to call the emergency helpline.
Police personnel from the HAL station arrived at the lodging following the complaint. Officials stated that the team recorded video footage of the group and instructed them to vacate the premises. It was at this moment that Vaishnavi, allegedly frightened by the police presence, rushed to the balcony in a panic.
A Desperate and Tragic Escape Attempt
In a bid to flee, the young woman tried to climb down from the balcony by holding onto a drain pipe. The makeshift escape plan went horribly wrong, causing her to lose her grip and plummet to the ground. During the fall, she struck an iron railing, which resulted in serious, critical injuries.
Her friends and the police officers present immediately shifted her to a nearby private hospital. A police officer confirmed that her condition remains critical. Her father, who later spoke to the media, explained that his daughter was with her cousin and panicked upon seeing the police recording videos, which led to her rash attempt to flee.
FIR Filed and Investigation Launched
The woman's father has raised serious questions about the safety standards of the hotel property, alleging they were not up to par. Based on his formal complaint, the HAL police have registered an FIR (First Information Report) and initiated a thorough investigation.
Authorities have stated that the probe will examine the roles of all parties involved, including the hotel management, staff members, and the police personnel present at the scene. In response to circulating allegations, a senior police officer refuted claims that the police had demanded money from the group, clarifying that the personnel were wearing body cameras at the time.
