Woman Files Complaint Against Boyfriend for False Marriage Promise

A 34-year-old woman residing in the Anandnagar area of Ahmedabad has filed a police complaint against her boyfriend, alleging that he sexually exploited her under the false promise of marriage and subsequently refused to marry her.

Details of the Complaint

According to the Anandnagar police, the complainant is employed with a private firm in the city. She came into contact with the accused through a matrimonial website approximately one and a half years ago. The two later met in person and developed a friendship that eventually evolved into a romantic relationship.

Police officials stated that the woman alleged the accused, who belonged to the same community, proposed marriage to her during the course of their relationship. Trusting his promises, she agreed to continue the relationship and frequently met him.

Physical Relations and Expenses

In her complaint, the woman mentioned that they stayed together at various hotels in Ahmedabad and Rajasthan, where they established physical relations. She further alleged that she often bore the expenses for their stays and other outings. The complaint also claims that the couple regularly met at the man's rented residence, where he allegedly had sexual relations with her on the promise of marriage.

Accused Distances Himself

According to investigators, the relationship continued for several months before the accused allegedly began distancing himself from the woman. She claimed that despite repeated attempts to contact him, he stopped communicating and eventually refused to marry her.

Feeling cheated and betrayed, the woman approached the Anandnagar police and filed a formal complaint.

Legal Action

Inspector R S Parmar of Anandnagar police confirmed that a case has been registered under Section 69 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which addresses sexual intercourse obtained through deceitful means, including a false promise of marriage. The police are investigating the matter further.
