A woman has been arrested in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly coercing a police constable into religious conversion and marriage, according to officials on Sunday. The case was registered at the Khekra police station on Saturday following a formal complaint by constable Shrikant, who is currently posted with the Dial 112 emergency services.

According to the police complaint, constable Shrikant stated that he first met the accused, identified as Hina alias Mubbasreen, a resident of Delhi, in 2022 during his posting in Ghaziabad. He alleged that after their initial meeting, the woman began pressuring him to convert his religion and marry her.
The complainant further detailed that when he refused her demands, the woman threatened to implicate him in a false rape case. This threat allegedly forced him to convert and enter into marriage under extreme duress. Constable Shrikant also accused her of continuously blackmailing him over an extended period.
Police Investigation and Legal Action
Police officials revealed that the woman allegedly took the constable to a mosque in Delhi, where documents related to religious conversion were prepared. She is also accused of pressuring him to participate in specific religious activities and join a Jamaat, further intensifying the coercion.
Additional Superintendent of Police Praveen Singh Chauhan confirmed that a case has been registered under multiple relevant sections. These include provisions of the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act, the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, and the Information Technology Act.
The accused woman was arrested on Saturday and subsequently produced before a local court. The court remanded her to judicial custody, pending further investigation into the serious allegations.
