Hyderabad Widow Allegedly Murdered Over Rs 1,300 Debt, Body Buried at Fast Food Centre
In a shocking incident from Halia town in Nalgonda district, a 67-year-old widow was allegedly murdered and buried within the compound of a fast food centre over an unpaid amount of Rs 1,300. The victim, identified as Anasuyamma, was a daily wage labourer who lived alone and had been pursuing the debt for some time.
Details of the Debt Dispute and Alleged Murder
According to police reports, Anasuyamma had sold fair-price rice to Ramulu, a 60-year-old man who operates a fast food centre on Devarakonda Road. While Ramulu had paid part of the amount, he still owed her Rs 1,300, which she persistently demanded. On January 24, Ramulu called Anasuyamma to his residence-cum-fast food centre, ostensibly to settle the dues.
Police stated that an argument erupted between the two over the unpaid money, with Ramulu allegedly intoxicated at the time. Halia sub-inspector B Sai Prashant revealed that Ramulu then attacked Anasuyamma with a vegetable cutter, killing her on the spot in a violent outburst.
Gruesome Attempt to Conceal the Crime
In a disturbing turn of events, Ramulu, along with his wife Dhanalaxmi and 28-year-old son Durga, reportedly removed a 20-gram gold chain from the victim's body. They then pledged it at a local shop for Rs 90,000. To hide their heinous act, the family dug a pit within the premises of the fast food centre and buried Anasuyamma's body, covering the spot with liquor bottles in a crude attempt to conceal the crime.
Investigation and Arrests
The case came to light when the victim's niece filed a missing complaint on the same night. CCTV camera footage played a crucial role, showing Anasuyamma last seen heading towards the accused's house. During police questioning, the accused allegedly confessed to the crime.
On Monday, the body was exhumed in the presence of a tehsildar, and a post-mortem was conducted before the remains were handed over to the family. The trio was remanded to judicial custody on Tuesday under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, facing serious charges for their alleged involvement in this brutal murder.
This tragic incident highlights the extreme lengths to which disputes over small amounts of money can escalate, resulting in devastating consequences. The local community in Halia town has been left in shock, as authorities continue their investigation into this appalling crime.
