In a dramatic turn of events, the Delhi Police arrested a wanted murder accused after a brief encounter in the national capital on Wednesday. The accused, identified as Ravi Kumar, was shot in the leg during the exchange of fire and was subsequently taken into custody. He was wanted in multiple murder cases and carried a cash reward of Rs 50,000 on his head.

The encounter took place in the Shahdara district of Delhi when a police team intercepted the accused near a busy market area. Upon being challenged, the accused opened fire at the police team, prompting the officers to retaliate in self-defense. Ravi Kumar, a native of Uttar Pradesh, had been evading arrest for the past two years. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara) R. S. Meena stated that the accused was a habitual offender and had been on the run for a long time. He added that the police team acted swiftly to neutralize the threat and ensure the safety of the public. The injured accused has been admitted to a hospital for treatment, and further legal proceedings are underway.
