In a significant crackdown on organized crime, the Haryana Special Task Force (STF) successfully secured the deportation and subsequent arrest of a wanted gangster from the United States on Wednesday. Aman Kumar, alias Aman Bhainswal, a key member of the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi syndicate, was taken into custody upon his arrival at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport.
Arrest and Criminal Network
The Sonipat unit of the STF apprehended Bhainswal shortly after 3 PM as he landed in Delhi. Officials confirmed he will be presented before a court on Thursday. Investigations reveal that Bhainswal is not just a foot soldier but operates his own criminal gang with direct links to the Rohit Godara faction. His area of operation spans several districts in Haryana and the national capital region, primarily Sonipat, Rohtak, Jhajjar, and Delhi-NCR.
A Trail of Serious Crimes and Escape
According to STF officers, Aman Bhainswal is implicated in a slew of serious offences. He faces 10 criminal cases registered in Haryana and Delhi. The charges against him are grave and include:
- Murder
- Attempt to murder
- Extortion
- Firings
- Violations under the Arms Act, Indian Penal Code, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and the Passport Act
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) stated that Bhainswal was previously arrested in India and released on bail. However, he absconded and did not face trial. He was declared a proclaimed offender on March 18 last year in connection with a 2016 FIR at Baroda police station in Sonipat.
International Manhunt and Deportation
The international chase for Bhainswal intensified last year. Following coordination with the CBI and the Union Home and External Affairs ministries, an Interpol Red Corner Notice and a Look Out Circular were issued against him. STF investigations uncovered that he fled India on June 20, 2024, using a fraudulently obtained passport. He traveled to Kuwait using the fake document, which identified him as Aman Kumar, son of Naresh Kumar, a resident of East Delhi. He was later traced and geolocated in the United States, leading to the deportation process.
This operation marks the sixth major deportation secured by the Haryana STF since 2025 and the second from the United States. The previous deportation from the US was that of Lakhwinder Singh alias Lakha, another Lawrence Bishnoi gang member, in October last year.
