The Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) is set to reach out to industry bodies in Karnataka, urging them to pay attention to the issue of 'love jihad'. Milind Parande, a senior VHP leader, stated that the organisation will meet state-level associations and some companies to express their concerns and discuss current practices.
VHP's Outreach Plan
Speaking to reporters, Parande said, 'We will meet state-level associations and some companies and tell them our areas of worry and their practices.' The move aims to sensitise the industrial sector about what the VHP describes as the threat of 'love jihad', a term used by right-wing groups to refer to alleged coercive conversions through marriage.
Industry Response
The VHP plans to engage with various industry bodies to highlight their apprehensions. The organisation believes that companies should adopt measures to prevent such incidents within their workforce. The details of the proposed practices were not disclosed.
This initiative comes amid ongoing debates in Karnataka over religious conversions and interfaith marriages. The VHP has been vocal about its opposition to 'love jihad', and this outreach marks a new phase in their campaign targeting the corporate sector.
