Varanasi Police Cracks Down on Illicit Sex Trade in Residential Colony

In a significant operation, the Cantt police in Varanasi successfully busted a sex racket that was being run from an apartment located in the Kunj Vihar colony. The raid, which took place on Saturday afternoon, resulted in the arrest of five individuals, including four women and one man.

Police Action Initiated by Anonymous Tip

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (headquarters) Apurva Pandey, the crackdown was set into motion after the police received an anonymous call regarding suspicious activities at the flat. Police Commissioner Mohit Agrawal promptly assigned the Special Operation Group-2 and Cantt police to conduct a thorough raid on the premises in Kunj Vihar Colony.

Evidence and Arrests Made During the Operation

During the raid, law enforcement officials discovered that an illicit flesh trade was being conducted from the apartment. Several incriminating items were recovered from the site, which provided concrete evidence of the illegal activities. The police managed to apprehend four women and one man directly from the flat.

Further Investigation Underway

Assistant Commissioner Pandey emphasized that the investigation is still in progress. The police are actively working to identify and reach those who were operating the racket behind the scenes. Additionally, authorities are verifying the whereabouts of the four arrested women to determine where they had been brought from, which could shed light on potential human trafficking links.

This incident highlights the ongoing efforts by Varanasi police to combat organized crime and protect vulnerable individuals in the city.
