Varanasi Police Nab Notorious Cattle Smuggler After Midnight Encounter

Varanasi police arrested a notorious cattle smuggler following a dramatic late-night encounter on Wednesday. The operation unfolded near the Bandargah turn on the Mirzapur-Varanasi route.

Police Action Leads to Arrest

Assistant Commissioner of Police Vijay Pratap Singh shared details about the incident. Ramnagar police received a tip about the movement of Guddu Ansari from Mirzamurad. Officers quickly cordoned off the area and began checking vehicles.

Around midnight, police signaled two motorcycle-borne individuals to stop. Instead of complying, the riders turned their bike toward Bandargah Road and attempted to flee. Police gave chase immediately.

Dramatic Chase and Shootout

The suspects turned onto an unpaved road during the pursuit. Their motorcycle slipped, causing them to fall. Before police could reach them, one rider escaped on the bike.

Guddu Ansari remained at the scene. He opened fire at the approaching police officers. In retaliatory firing, police shot Ansari in his right leg. Officers subdued and captured him at the location.

Recovery and Hospitalization

Police recovered a pistol and several cartridges from the scene. They rushed the injured smuggler to a nearby hospital for medical treatment. His condition remains under observation.

Criminal History Revealed

Investigations revealed Guddu Ansari had five existing criminal cases against him. This arrest adds another chapter to his lengthy criminal record.

Previous Cattle Rescue Operation

This arrest follows another police action just days earlier. On Sunday morning, Ramnagar police rescued ten cattle from a pickup near Bhiti.

During that operation, police arrested two individuals: Jitendra Kumar and Karan Vishwakarma. However, Guddu Ansari managed to escape capture at that time.

The latest encounter finally brought the notorious smuggler into police custody. Authorities continue investigating both incidents and pursuing the second suspect who escaped during Wednesday's encounter.
