Bengaluru Police Apprehend Varanasi Man for Alleged Role in Wife's Murder Conspiracy

In a significant development in a high-profile murder case, Bengaluru city police have arrested a 32-year-old man from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, for his alleged involvement in assisting software engineer Balamurugan in the killing of his wife. The arrest centers on the accused's role in tracking and sharing the victim's live location, which police say was critical to the execution of the crime.

Details of the Arrest and the Murder Case

Abhimanyu Singh, who worked as an assistant with a gold merchant, was taken into custody by Bengaluru police for his participation in the conspiracy. His arrest is directly linked to the murder of Bhuvaneshwari, a bank employee, who was shot dead in December 2025 within the jurisdiction of the Magadi Road police station. Her husband, Balamurugan, had been previously arrested for orchestrating and carrying out the killing.

Investigators revealed that Balamurugan had meticulously planned the murder over several months, even keeping a knife as a backup in case the shooting plan failed. Initially, he hired a Tamil Nadu-based burglar named Moulesh Kumar to shoot his wife. However, as Moulesh repeatedly postponed the execution, Balamurugan ultimately took matters into his own hands and committed the murder himself.

Key Facilitator's Role in the Conspiracy

During the investigation, police identified Abhimanyu Singh as a key facilitator in the plot. According to a police officer, Abhimanyu would visit Bengaluru and stay with Balamurugan. Under the guise of attending a gym located opposite Bhuvaneshwari's bank every morning, he closely monitored her movements whenever he was in the city.

On the day of the murder, Abhimanyu allegedly shared Bhuvaneshwari's live location with Balamurugan, enabling him to track her movements precisely and carry out the killing. This use of technology to facilitate the crime has added a disturbing dimension to the case, highlighting how digital tools can be misused in violent acts.

Broader Network and Additional Arrests

Police further alleged that Abhimanyu accompanied Moulesh to Bihar to procure two country-made pistols used in the crime. Moulesh was later arrested by Tamil Nadu police in connection with a house burglary, during which one of the pistols allegedly procured by Balamurugan was recovered.

Two other associates of Moulesh, identified as Surya and Rahul, have also been implicated for their alleged roles in the murder plot. Both are currently incarcerated in prisons in Tamil Nadu, and Bengaluru police have stated that steps are being taken to bring them to the city for further questioning.

Conclusion: A Meticulously Planned Conspiracy

Investigators have emphasized that the murder was the result of a carefully orchestrated conspiracy, with multiple accomplices aiding Balamurugan at various stages. From planning and weapon procurement to location tracking and execution, the involvement of several individuals underscores the complexity and premeditation behind the crime.

The arrest of Abhimanyu Singh marks a crucial step in unraveling this network, as police continue to piece together the full extent of the conspiracy and ensure justice for the victim.
