In a significant law enforcement action, the Laxmipura police in Vadodara publicly paraded a notorious history-sheeter on Tuesday after apprehending him for allegedly harassing a young woman and physically assaulting her pregnant sister. Details of the Disturbing Incident
The alleged crimes occurred on Monday night when the two sisters were returning home. According to police reports, the accused, identified as Yash Vasava (24), who is also known by the alias Lassi, confronted the women in the Gotri area. Vasava is accused of pressuring the younger sister to enter into a relationship with him, making unwelcome advances despite her clear refusal.
When the victim stood her ground and her pregnant sister intervened to confront Vasava over the harassment, the situation escalated violently. Police state that Vasava allegedly kicked the pregnant woman before fleeing the scene, leaving the sisters traumatized and in distress.
Background of Harassment and Police Action
The victim later informed authorities that Vasava had been persistently harassing and threatening her for approximately two-and-a-half months prior to this incident. This pattern of behavior highlights a prolonged period of intimidation that culminated in the violent assault.
Upon investigation, police revealed that Yash Vasava has an extensive criminal record, with over 17 offences registered against him. His past charges include serious crimes such as criminal intimidation, assault, and violations under the Prohibition Act, indicating a history of disregard for the law.
